The White River Magistrate's Court has postponed a case against a suspected rhino poacher.
|||A suspected rhino poacher appeared in the White River Magistrate's Court in Mpumalanga on Thursday, the Hawks said.
“The case is postponed to tomorrow (Friday) to put two other suspected poachers on the court roll with him,” spokesman Colonel McIntosh Polela said.
The 29-year-old Mozambican, Jose Antonio Sitoe, was arrested on Tuesday when SA National Parks rangers shot dead a suspected rhino poacher and wounded two others in the Kruger National Park.
Polela said park rangers noticed four men crossing a river and ordered them to stop. They allegedly shot at the rangers, who returned fire.
“One of the poachers died on the scene and two were taken to hospital.”
A rifle and several knives, apparently for hacking off rhino horns, were confiscated. Sitoe had already admitted to the killing of three rhinos in the park last week, Polela said. – Sapa
