Charges against ten others were temporarily withdrawn due to insufficient evidence, said Warrant Officer November Filander.
The matter was postponed to May 21.
The group were arrested on Monday after tyres were set alight on the N2 freeway during a protest in Grabouw.
Residents burned down the Umyezo wama Apile School last week, demanding additional facilities and an end to overcrowding.
On Monday, protesters also burned down two ward councillors' homes and a municipal building. - Sapa
