Four die in two Eastern Cape accidents

Four people died in two separate road accidents in the Eastern Cape.

Four people died in two separate road accidents in the Eastern Cape on Saturday, officials said.

In the first accident, two people were killed and five injured when a car veered off the R61 between Ngcobo and Mthatha and rolled several times on Saturday morning. said Eastern Cape provincial traffic spokesman Tshepo Machaea.

He said the incident occurred after the driver lost control amid heavy rain around 5.45am.

He said the injured were taken to the Nelson Mandela Academic Hospital for treatment.

In another accident, two people were killed and another injured on the R63 between Hogsback and Alice after a car overturned.

Machaea said the accident took place around 5.30am.

He said the injured person was taken to Victoria Hospital in Alice for treatment.

Machaea said drivers should travel with care as parts of the Eastern Cape were expecting extremely wet road conditions for the rest of the weekend. - Sapa
