Captain Malcolm Pojie said Dae Jun You, 22, and his friend Jong Tak Whang, 30, were swimming in calm seas on Sunday when they were both carried out to sea by a strong rip-current.
Jong Tak Whang was rescued by a local man, but Dae Jun You went missing, Pojie said.
“It is feared that he could have had drowned.”
An extensive search by air, sea and shore had revealed no sign of the missing man, but efforts to find him would continue.
