|||Two men accused of murdering a farmer in Butterworth were sentenced to 25 years imprisonment each by the Butterworth Circuit Court on Tuesday, Eastern Cape police said.
Captain Jackson Manatha said Phikolomzi Funani, 24, and Siyanda Kula, 21, were found guilty of murder, attempted robbery, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.
They shot and killed the 71-year-old farmer, Gibson Madasa, at his farm near Bethel College, Butterworth, on November 23, 2009 at about 6am.
“The motive for the attack was established at Butterworth Circuit Court ... they wanted from the deceased his money and firearms,” Manatha said. - Sapa
