Three men accused of killing an alleged liquor thief were granted R1500 bail each by the Sekhukhune Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, Limpopo police said.

Lt-Col Mohale Ramatseba said David Ntsodi, 72, Isaac Selatole, 29, and Andrew Kgolane, 31, would be back in court on May 25.

The men allegedly beat Prince Morowane, 29, to death on April 2. They had accused him stealing alcohol from Ntsodi's bottle store in Mampuru village.

A group of men angry about the killing burned Ntsodi's shop down afterwards. Eight of them also appeared in Sekhukhune Magistrate's Court on Tuesday - on charges of public violence and malicious damage to property.

Ephraim Mosehla, 28, David Kgahlobe, 27, David Selota, 27, Given Seloba, 28, Thabo Moela, 24, Isaac Maripane, 20, Hans Tshehla, 19 and Enos Malapane, 37, were each granted R500 bail each. This matter was postponed to May 22. - Sapa
