An alleged cocaine dealer who has been on the run for a year after skipping bail, has been arrested in Durban.
|||An alleged drug dealer who has been on the run for a year after skipping bail, has been arrested in Durban after being found with cocaine with a street value of R4 000.
Provincial police spokesman Colonel Jay Naicker said that the provincial crime intelligence and the Durban flying squad narcotics task team traced John Okwudiri Eluke, 39, to a business premises at the beachfront where they arrested him and another man on Tuesday. Both were found in possession of the cocaine.
“He was arrested in 2011 in the Greytown area for dealing in cocaine with an estimated street value of R300 000. He was released on bail, but in March 2011, he failed to appear in court and a warrant for his arrest was authorised by the Greytown Magistrate’s Court,” said Naicker.
“Further police investigations around Eluke have established that he is wanted on a robbery and several drug dealing cases in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pietermaritzburg and Durban.
“He will be transferred to Greytown SAPS and will appear in Greytown Magistrate’s court today (Wednesday).”
Naicker said that bail for Eluke would be opposed. - Daily News
