|||A 19-year-old man was arrested in Hout Bay, Cape Town, on Thursday for possession of perlemoen (abalone) with a street value of R1 million, Western Cape police said.
He was caught round 6am after police received a tip-off, Warrant Officer November Filander said in a statement.
“Police followed up the information and later spotted the white Nissan LDV coming from the Hangberg area.”
Police stopped the bakkie on Victoria Road. They found 40 bags filled with 2654 perlemoen, covered by black plastic bags. The man, from Grassy Park, was expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court on Monday. - Sapa
