|||Bloemfontein - Free State health spokesman Jabu Mbalula and three other men appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday for alleged possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The case against Mbalula, Lefa Maema, Lawrence Mathae and Zamile Gewili was postponed until May 18 for further investigation. They are out on bail.
Captain Harry Nagel said the four were arrested at 9.30pm on Sunday by police acting on a tip-off about an unlicensed firearm in a white Jaguar with Free State number plates on the N8.
Nagel said the firearm was found during a search of the vehicle at a filling station outside Bloemfontein.
It was believed the men were on their way back to Bloemfontein from Botshabelo. - Sapa
