|||Johannesburg - The acting head of the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) holds two jobs, although her predecessor was not allowed to do so, according to a media report on Sunday.
Willie Hofmeyr, former head of the SIU, was told by Parliament he could not work two jobs.
President Jacob Zuma fired him from the unit in November last year. Hofmeyr remained in his position as head of the National Prosecuting Authority's asset forfeiture unit.
But his successor, advocate Nomvula Mokhatla, a deputy director of national prosecutions, now occupies two positions, according to Rapport. She told Parliament's portfolio committee on justice on Friday that in addition to her role as acting SIU head, she was also head of the NPA's legal department.
“I do a few things at once,” she was quoted as saying.
DA politician Debbie Schafer, a member of the justice committee, told the paper that President Jacob Zuma had never given any reasons for moving Hofmeyr from the SIU. - Sapa
