|||Police are urging the owners of recovered stolen electronic goods – to the value of R150 000 – to come forward and claim their belongings.
On Wednesday, police recovered goods including eight flat-screen Sony, LG and Samsung television sets, two iPhones, two Apple iPads and an HP laptop.
“The team was responding to information it had received and made five arrests following the raid,” said SAPS spokesman Captain Khephu Ndlovu.
Those arrested were thought to be part of a syndicate involved in house-breaking.
A camera was also recovered with pictures on its memory card linking a white, double-cab 4x4 vehicle to its rightful owner – and not to a person who claimed to be the owner.
“We were able to contact the owner, from Jacobs, through the vehicle’s number plates, who told us the vehicle had been stolen,” he said. Proof of ownership was provided and the vehicle returned.
To claim the items, the public needs to bring proof of ownership as well as serial numbers of their lost items to the Point Police Station. Alternatively, they can contact Captain Roland Savage at 031 325 4580. - Daily News
