Son of Durban businessman Ashok Sewnarain, back in court over an assualt in which he allegedly disfigured a student.
|||Rahul Sewnarain, the son of a Durban businessman, made a brief appearance in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
Sewnarain, son of International Bank Vaults boss Ashok Sewnarain, is charged with assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm for hitting a student at the Jus Jazzin nightclub in Durban North on February 17.
It is alleged that student Nicoli Francois was hit in the face with a glass and suffered serious facial and head injuries.
He is reported to have undergone extensive surgery as a result of his injuries.
In court on Tuesday, Sewnarain’s attorney Anand Nepaul, consented to the matter’s being adjourned to May 9 for statements to be given to him by the State and for a trial date to be set.
Sewnarain is out on bail of R1 000.
