|||Undercover police arrested nine drug dealers in informal settlements in Umzinto on Wednesday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
Colonel Jay Naicker said the nine, aged between 19 and 59, were arrested on 19 drug-related charges, including dealing in drugs.
“Undercover police infiltrated the drug underworld in Umzinto and gathered evidence over a period of two months on the drug trade in areas such as the Sanathan informal settlement, Roseville informal settlement, Roshan Heights, Riverside Park, CBD and Hazelwood.”
Police seized crack cocaine with an estimated street value of R2 000, money and cellphones. The nine were expected to appear in the Umzinto Magistrate's Court on Thursday. - Sapa
