An elderly woman suffered multiple injuries, from which she later died, after her car collided with a truck.
|||An elderly woman was killed in an accident on Thursday in Three Rivers, Vereeniging, paramedics said.
A truck carrying a load of sand and a car collided head-on while travelling on Blackwood road near the Heidelburg road intersection, said ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson in a statement.
Both vehicles left the road and landed in a storm-water drain alongside the road. The car was crushed beneath the weight of the truck.
The elderly woman in the car suffered multiple injuries and was declared dead on the scene, said Jackson.
Emergency services spent 90 minutes extracting her body from the car.
