|||A police officer was arrested in Kagiso near Soweto after he allegedly extorted R400 from a woman, Gauteng police said on Friday.
Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said the officer was arrested on Thursday after the woman laid a complaint against him.
The officer came to the woman's home on April 19 and bought a beer. He then told her it was illegal to sell alcohol without a licence, and that she would have to pay a R1500 fine.
She told him that she could only afford to pay R400. The officer then allegedly took her money and drove away.
He would face a corruption charge in court soon, Sibiya said. - Sapa
