On Saturday evening, the minibus was carrying an under-19 rugby team from Benoni, when it experienced some type of mechanical failure, said ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks.
It veered off the road and over the N12, towards oncoming traffic, and narrowly missed other cars before crashing into an Armco barrier.
“Paramedics quickly assessed the patients and found that out of the fourteen occupants, four players including the driver were in a serious condition and four others had sustained minor to moderate injuries,” Banks said.
All the injured were taken to hospital while the rest of the team were taken for a medical check up by their coach. - Sapa
