|||A man was arrested on Friday in connection with the death of a Pietermaritzburg policewoman who disappeared two weeks ago, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
“A 32-year-old man was arrested in Thornville, outside Pietermaritzburg, after we received a tip-off,” Lieutenant Joey Jeevan said.
Constable Bongiwe Precious Zuma was last seen in Imbali on May 22.
Her red Volkswagen Golf was later found abandoned at the side of a road in the Mason's Mill area.
Charred remains, believed to be hers, were found on Friday in bushes alongside a road in Thornville. A post mortem would be conducted, said Jeevan.
He said the man arrested would appear soon in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court.
Police found a cellphone, possibly that of Zuma, when they arrested two men in Pietermaritzburg on Thursday.
The men were in possession of two stolen cellphones. The other cellphone was stolen from a motorist in Pietermaritzburg on May 25. - Sapa
