|||Nine people died and 45 others were injured when a minibus taxi collided with a bus on Saturday morning near Nelspruit in Mpumalanga, paramedics said.
“The death toll might rise as the bus is still on its side,” ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks said.
The accident happened shortly after 7am on the R40 between White River and Nelspruit.
The bus and taxi both came to a rest on the side of the road.
Of those injured, 12 were critical, 10 were in a serious condition, and 23 sustained moderately injuries, said Banks.
