|||Two women were killed in an accident involving a car and a truck between Butterworth and the Ndabakazi railway station on Monday afternoon, Eastern Cape police said.
Captain Jackson Manatha said a 19-year-old woman was crossing the road when she was hit by a car. The 33-year-old woman driving the car died when she then crashed into a truck.
The accident blocked the railway line.
“A train en route to Mthatha from East London had to stop about 60 metres away from the accident,” Manatha said. Buses were provided for the passengers.
The truck driver and his passenger were taken to Butterworth hospital with minor injuries. - Sapa
