His lawyer on Thursday said the State has not provided any concrete proof linking his client to the murder of a young father-to-be.
Thomas, 18, and Ismail Samaai, 19, appeared in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court where they face charges for the murder of Moeneeb Jacobs, 20, in Manenberg on May 30.
They were expected to launch their bail applications on Thursday but this was postponed after Thomas’ lawyer Joshua Greef told the court he wanted clarity on how his client was linked to the murder.
“At this stage the defence is in the dark with regard to the merits of the matter,” said Greef.
“We have had no insight into (the docket). We want to know how my client is linked to this crime.”
Magistrate Keith le Keur postponed the matter to consider Greef’s request.
Thomas made headlines in March when he was accused of shooting little Faeez Wesso, three, dead.
During his bail hearing at Wynberg Magistrates’ Court, Thomas admitted that he pointed a gun at the toddler but never intended to kill him.
He claims he only tried to scare the boy’s mom when the gun went off by accident.
