|||Waterval, Limpopo - A Limpopo policeman accused of taking a bribe from a spaza owner operating illegally was granted R500 bail by the Waterval Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Constable Masia Enos Mulaudzi was expected to be served with a notice of his intended suspension pending an internal probe, said Lt-Col Mohale Ramatseba.
He was arrested at the Waterval police station on Monday.
Ramatseba said Mulaudzi, 35, was allegedly paid R1500 on June 27 and another R500 on Friday by an Elim Block D spaza owner who was operating without a licence.
His arrest came after intensive investigations by members of the province's anti-corruption unit.
Provincial commissioner Lt-Gen Simon Mpembe strongly condemned police corruption.
“No effort will be spared in ensuring that officers who are involved in such activities are exposed and dealt with harshly,” he said. - Sapa
