|||East Rand - A second East Rand toddler has survived a near drowning in a swimming pool this week, paramedics said on Tuesday.
The two-year-old boy was in a serious, but stable condition in the Tambo Memorial Hospital after falling into a swimming pool in Parkrand, Boksburg, said Netcare911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks.
He said a woman in the street flagged down a paramedic on a motorcycle on Tuesday afternoon.
He entered the premises, saw the child floating in the pool, dived in and pulled him out. The paramedic resuscitated the boy before he was taken to hospital.
On Monday, a four-year-old girl nearly drowned in a swimming pool in Morehill, Benoni, Wicks said.
Someone in the house pulled her out of the water and did mouth-to-mouth until the paramedics arrived.
They revived her and took her to the Tambo Memorial Hospital, where her condition was also serious, but stable, he said. - Sapa
