The trial of seven people accused of having defrauded the labour department's Compensation Fund was postponed in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, January 26, 2012.

They will be back in court on February 13.

Six of the accused are former employees of the department. They are Maxwell Ramaphosa, Samuel Mfeleng, Kgabo Methi, Debbie Venter, Tendani Mukomafhedzi and Billy Ramskin. The seventh accused is a physiotherapist, Abel Diokano.

They face four counts of fraud and two of money laundering. The former department employees allegedly colluded with Diokano by channelling money into his account. Four transfers were allegedly made and all the accused later shared the money.

The matter was postponed to allow Ramaphosa and Mfeleng to apply for Legal Aid. - Sapa
