Eight members of a motorcycle club crowded the dock in court charged with assaulting an Amanzimtoti businesswoman.
|||Durban - Eight members of a motorcycle club crowded the dock in the Durban Magistrate's Court this week facing charges of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm to an Amanzimtoti businesswoman.
The club members allegedly beat up Crisna van der Bank, the owner of Da Wala Wala Bar, after she refused the club leader's R200 offer for the sale of her business. She retorted “suck my leg”. She alleged that drunken members then returned to the bar later that night and beat her up with their fists and a helmet. The leader of the club is also facing a charge of sexual assault after he allegedly grabbed the breast of a waitress at another tavern, and put his hand up her skirt, a few days after the assault.
The matter was adjourned to August.
