Cape Town - Four men accused of murdering gay night club owner Bruno Bronn are to go on trial in the Western Cape High Court.

The four appeared in the Cape Town District Court on Tuesday.

The three out on bail, John Frederick Coetzer, 36, Fareez Allie, 29, and Kurt Erispe, 35, were warned to return on August 15, when they would be given copies of the indictment and informed of their high court date.

The fourth accused, Achmat Toffa, 35, launched a bail application last month, which would continue on Wednesday.

In Toffa's bail hearing, it was alleged he phoned Coetzer from prison, to warn him that he would be shot dead if he told the truth about the murder at their trial.

Toffa allegedly informed Coetzer that other co-accused had already been told to testify in accordance with Toffa's instructions.

Bronn, who owned The Bronx nightclub in Cape Town, was murdered in his Green Point home on February 7. - Sapa
