|||A 26-year-old off-duty police constable shot and killed his 33-year-old girlfriend in De Deur, 35km south of Johannesburg, before turning the firearm on himself early on Saturday morning, Gauteng police said.
“It is alleged that at about 2.30am, the constable visited the girlfriend who was attending the funeral night vigil of her uncle,” said Lt-Col Tshisikhawe Ndou in a statement.
After arriving at the house, the policeman and his girlfriend began arguing.
“The man took out his service pistol and fatally shot her. He then turned the gun on himself and also died on the scene,” said Ndou.
Ndou said police had opened inquest and murder dockets, and were investigating. - Sapa
