Two women accused of lodging false claims with the Road Accident Fund have appeared.
|||Two women accused of lodging false claims with the Road Accident Fund appeared in the Point Periodical Court in Durban on Friday.
The matter was postponed to March 1 for legal aid application, said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Vincent Mdunge.
Beharie Ramu and Beharie Berverlyann were arrested on February 9 in Pietermaritzburg with attorney Naleni Atwaru.
Atwaru allegedly lodged fraudulent road accident claims of about R3.7 million. She was released on bail of R5 000 after she appeared in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court on February 9, Mdunge said.
Atwaru would again appear in the Durban Commercial Crimes Court on March 2.
The accused were charged with fraud for claims dating back three years.
Ramu and Berverlyann are out on bail. – Sapa
