|||Northern Cape premier Hazel Jenkins was still in hospital late on Friday after she collapsed during her state of the province address in Kimberley.
Her spokesman Mafu Davids said Jenkins was being monitored on an on-going basis by medical personnel.
The premier was about 30 minutes into her speech when she collapsed at the CRC church in Kimberley, where the state of the province address was held.
Paramedics gave immediate attention to Jenkins before she was admitted to the Kimberley Hospital.
Davids said the public would be kept up to date on her condition on a regular basis.
The Speaker of the Northern Cape Legislature Jacobus van Wyk said the meeting was adjourned.
The Legislature would convene a special standing committee on programme meeting to decide a way forward on Tuesday, next week.
This would mean the rescheduling of the state-of-the-province address and the debates.
He said the Northern Cape Legislature would like to finalise this programme as soon as possible.
“We await news on he premier’s medical condition and pray that she may have a speedy recovery,” he said. - Sapa
