|||An explosive device was left outside a jewellery store in Eastgate Mall in Bedfordview, east of Johannesburg, on Monday, said Gauteng police.
“The mall was evacuated and police were called in after a suspicious case was left in front of a jewellery store,” said Captain Katlego Mogale.
The suitcase was discovered around 11am.
“The bomb disposal unit was called in and confirmed that the case did have an explosive device in it.”
Police disarmed the device and the situation returned to normal around 2pm, said Mogale.
“People are back inside the centre.”
