Netcare 911 spokesman Jeffrey Wicks said the bakkie, carrying churchgoers, veered from the carriageway and flipped onto its side before rolling repeatedly.
“The wreckage eventually came to rest and many were flung from the bin of the vehicle as the fibreglass canopy disintegrated... Paramedics arrived at the scene to find six people, some in their teens, had sustained critical injuries and sadly died as a result.”
Wicks said the injured were treated on the side of the road before being taken to a nearby hospital. - Sapa
