|||A ruling on the bail bid of five people accused of killing a teenager during an exorcism ceremony in Umlazi, outside Durban, will be made on Monday, said police.
Captain Thulani Zwane said the five, aged between 18 and 37, allegedly killed Sinetemba Dlamini, 14, last Friday night.
They appeared in the Umlazi Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, when they applied for bail.
The five, believed to be church and family members, were arrested shortly after the ceremony.
Last year, a priest and five members of his congregation were accused of murdering a seven-year-old girl during a violent exorcism in Humansdorp in the Eastern Cape.
Her parents and the church members believed the child was possessed and had to be prayed for.
During the exorcism, they realised the girl needed medical attention and tried to take her to hospital, but she died on her way there. - Sapa
