Police said the 29-year-old reservist from the Orlando police station was standing on the pavement when she was approached by three men, who blocked her way, at about 6pm on Monday.
“They told her that one of her colleagues had told them that she had informed police that they were dealing in dagga and that she was going to pay for that. They then dragged her to an open space between Orlando and Diepkloof, where the three allegedly raped her,” said police spokesman Warrant Officer Bongani Mhlongo.
“She went to the police station after the alleged rape and laid charges against the three. The victim knew where one of the suspects lives in Orlando and police went there and arrested him on Tuesday.
“He is expected to appear in court on rape charges soon.”
Mhlongo said police were still checking whether the 37-year-old suspect in custody could be linked to any other crimes. Police were also looking for two other suspects.
“The two outstanding suspects are known to the victim… We’re hoping to arrest them soon.” - The Star
