|||A shoot-out erupted between police and a gunman at the Bryanston Parallel Medium School's parking lot on Tuesday, Gauteng police said.
No injuries were reported, said Captain Kym Cloete.
At 7.20am, police spotted a black Subaru in the parking lot with a suspicious occupant inside.
“On approaching the vehicle, the male occupant pulled out a firearm and fired. Police tried to block his vehicle with their car but he was able to evade it.”
An exchange of gunfire ensued. While escaping in the Subaru, he hit another car. It was not known whether he was injured during the crossfire.
Police suspect the man may have been linked to the jamming device syndicate - who jam car alarm systems when vehicles are locked.
Cloete said the gang had been targeting primary schools in the Sandton area. - Sapa
