A Nigerian man is in custody for kidnapping a 16-year-old Cape girl, forcing her to take drugs and perform sex acts for paying customers.
|||Bellvill, Cape Town - A Nigerian man was arrested on Tuesday for kidnapping a 16-year-old girl in Bellville, Cape Town City said on Tuesday.
Spokesman Richard Bosman said the City's vice squad arrested the man on Monday after a tip-off linked him to the kidnapping of the teenager from Durbanville.
The teenager was rescued last month at the Parksig Villas complex, in Bellville, where she was forced to use drugs and perform sexual acts for paying customers.
She was taken to a place of safety for counselling.
Bosman said the 39-year-old Nigerian was being detained at Bellville police holding cells.
He would appear on a charge of kidnapping in the Bellville Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Bosman said the matter had been handed to the Hawks human trafficking unit for further investigation.
“We urge communities to be vigilant and report any brothels and prostitution... in their neighbourhoods,” he said. - Sapa
