|||A member of the Hawks in Limpopo was denied bail when he appeared in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court on Tuesday charged with accepting a bribe, police said.
Warrant Officer Edward Hlaraka, 43, was arrested after allegedly receiving a R1300 bribe from a woman he was investigating for fraud, said Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi.
Initially, the officer allegedly demanded R10,000 and promised to destroy the woman's docket.
He would appear again on Friday on charges of fraud, corruption and defeating the ends of justice, said Mulaudzi. - Sapa
