|||Former child singing star Ricardo Groenewald has landed in hot water with police after he was allegedly found in possession of tik on Wednesday.
The “I Love You Daddy” star found himself in Mfuleni police holding cells three days after Christmas.
And he had to fork out R1 000 for bail at the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court.
Police say the 39-year-old singer was arrested in the same street where he lives, Hockenheim Street in Silversands, Mfuleni.
Cops say he was found in possession of tik and arrested at 1.15am on Wednesday - cops have yet to divulge how much tik was allegedly in his possession.
By 10am, Ricardo’s name made its place on the court roll and he was asked to be back at court in the new year before being released on bail.
Drama began outside court when Ricardo tried to dodge the media.
Dressed in three-quarter length jeans, white vest and black cap, he made a dash for it and tried in vain to dodge the Daily Voice’s lensman.
Meanwhile, provincial police spokesperson Warrant Officer November Filander confirms the arrest of the once-famous Cape Flats singer.
“The 39-year-old Ricardo Groenewald was arrested early Wednesday morning on December 28, 2011 around 01.15 for possession of drugs,” said Filander.
“He was released on R1 000 bail.”
Ricardo shot to fame at the tender age of 13 when he sang the Father’s Day classic “I Love You Daddy”.
Later he turned to gospel before ending on the wrong side of the law. - Daily Voice
