Two people were killed near Boksburg when a delivery vehicle transporting 2000 litres of used oil overturned.
|||Two people were killed near Boksburg, east of Johannesburg, on Monday when a delivery vehicle transporting 2000 litres of used oil overturned, Ekurhuleni metro police said.
“A white Hyundai light delivery vehicle transporting 2000 litres of used oil to Brakpan, lost control and overturned... two occupants unfortunately died,” said Inspector Kobeli Mokheseng in a statement
The two men, aged 38 and 44, were declared dead at the scene.
The accident happened around 1pm on the Boksburg area, on the N17 freeway.
“Preliminary investigations show that the rear left tyre exploded while the vehicle was in motion.
“The N17 freeway towards Mpumalanga was partially closed to traffic for more than two hours, due to salvage, cleaning the oil spill and formalities performed by the emergency personnel,” said Mokheseng. - Sapa
